Supermarket’s sweet treat for customers

Morrisons at Seaburn celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day by placing gifts on random customer cars ‘in the hope of making someone smile.’

Davinia Cain, the Community Champion at Morrisons Seaburn gifted customers with chocolates and flowers to celebrate the annual Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Gifts were placed on cars to commemorate the day that was created by the Random Acts of Kindness Trust to “encourage everyone to explore the good and make kindness the norm.”

Davinia put the small gifts on customer cars with a tag attached which said: “Kindness is spreading sunshine into other people’s lives, regardless of the storm we are in.”

Ms Cain said: “The 17th of February was Random Acts of Kindness Day and it’s something Morrisons really wanted to get behind.

“We wanted to generate kindness locally and make special random act of kindness in our community on that day.

“I put small gifts of chocolates on customers’ cars with the quote attached to them, in the hope of making someone smile.”

The store has previously contributed towards the community during the pandemic with five trolleys full of gifts being donated to the hard-working NHS staff at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Davinia said at the time: “Given the rise in coronavirus cases and the added strain to our local hospital, we wanted to work together to bring a random act of kindness to the hospital staff.”
