SUMMER SCHOOLS

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has not ruled out lengthening school days or shortening summer breaks to help pupils in England catch up from coronavirus disruption. Ministers have ginve an extra £400 million to education and asked secondaries to deliver some summer teaching.

EARLY RESULTS

A-level and GCSE students will receive grades determined by their teachers earlier in August to give them more time to appeal, Gavin Williamson also announced. All pupils in England will be allowed to appeal their grades at no additional cost and can also sit exams in the autumn.

‘DON’T BOOK YET’

It is ‘far too early’ to book a holiday abroad, Home Secretary Priti Patel has said. Her advice came as travel firms reported a surge in demand after the lockdown road map was revealed.
