Queen left ‘saddened’ by interview revelations

-

Buckingham Palace yesterday responded to allegations made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

A Palace statement said the Queen is “saddened” to hear the full extent of the challenges faced by Harry and Meghan and the issues raised around race are “concerning”.

The Palace said while “some recollections may vary” they are taken “very seriously”, but would be addressed by the family privately.

Harry, Meghan and Archie will “always be much loved family members”, the statement said.

The monarchy was left in crisis after Harry and Meghan delivered their dramatic revelations on primetime television.

The statement on behalf of the Queen said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

It was also announced yesterday that Piers Morgan had decided to leave Good Morning Britain.

The presenter stormed off the set of the programme following a heated discussion with his colleague, Alex Beresford, about the Harry and Meghan interview.

A statement from ITV said: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
