-

Sunderland-based housing association Gentoo Group has announced its multimillion-pound Property Investment Plan for 2021/22.

As part of the plan, more than 10,000 properties are set to benefit from home improvements, with major schemes including roof replacements and internal modifications.

Work is set to start on the schemes next month and the plans will see Gentoo replace windows in over 2,600 properties across Sunderland as part of Gentoo’s commitment to replace all single glazed windows by December 2023.

The work set to take place across the city includes the following projects:

Window replacements in Springwell; Roof replacements in the Columbia area of Washington; External decoration works in Easington Lane; Porch renewals in Town End Farm.

Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo Group, said all work will be carried out in a covid-secure way.

He said: “The current climate is still challenging, and I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to continuing to follow Covid-19 Safe Systems of Work at all times to help keep our tenants, contractors and colleagues safe.”

About one third of all Gentoo properties are set to see some improvement work at a cost of £37.4million.

Mr Wilson said: “At Gentoo we believe everyone deserves to live in a good quality, secure home and I’m delighted to announce our major investment plan for this year.”
