Peterlee Sunday League set to resume

-

Following a recent League Management Meeting, the SSK Recruitment Peterlee and District Sunday League will see league fixtures be issued from March 30.

That means league matches will need to be played every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday until the season ends after being given permission to play until the end of June, although weather permitting hopefully the programme will be completed in mid June.

Easington Colliery Club Mechanics and Seaham The Inn Between have opted not to complete their respective season.

Both teams will rejoin the league at the start of next season 2021/2022, which is likely to commence sometime in the month of August.

The respective cup competitions have been cancelled for the remainder of this season so that the league programme can be completed.

Promotions and relegations will still take place from each league at the end of the current season.

*The EFL says it has yet to receive confirmation over whether fans will be allowed to attend next month’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

It has been reported plans are being made that could see up to 8,000 spectators attend the April 25 clash between Tottenham and Manchester City, which would serve as a test event for the return of crowds. The EFL announced in December it was moving the final from February 28 to April 25 to “give clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person”.

The FA Cup final, to be played three weeks later on May 15, is to be used as a test event.
