Where to go if you fancy a pint
Seven pubs on or around Sunderland’s sea front have so far confirmed that they will be welcoming customers again on Monday.
From that date, pubs in England expect to be able to provide table service to customers sitting outdoors. Some pubs have extended outdoor seating or erected marquees, while others are making full use of existing beer gardens, or a pavement licence.
Some are by booking only, while others are on a first come first served basis.
Not every pub has announced their intentions, while are have yet to decide exactly their opening hours. However, the following seven say they will provide table service and have confirmed as much, either directly to the Echo or through theirsocialmediapages.Here they are in alphabetical order.
All details are subject to change and customers are advised to check pubs’ websites, social media or to call them.
- Bar 88, Whitburn Road opens its outdoor service on April 12 with opening
time from noon-11pm. There is no booking system with customers seated on a first come first served basis.
- The Blue Bell on Fulwell Road will be open from 11am9pm daily. Booking is not required.
- Grannie Annie’s, Marine Walk (a few metres from Roker beach) will open from 10am until late. The bar will not be taking bookings. First come first seated.
- Poetic License, Roker Terrace opens outside noon11pm. Booking is advised, but walk-ins are possible.
- The Promenade, Queen’s Parade will open 9am-11pm Sundays to Thursdays, 9ammidnight Fridays and Saturdays. Bookings can be
made by messaging their Facebook page, but walk-ins are also possible. They will also be using an app called Swifty for those who wish.
- Stack Seaburn, Whitburn Road told the Echo: “Yes we will be opening from Monday 12 April. Booking is required.”
- The Wolsey, Dame Dorothy Street is taking bookings, although walk-ins are also possible. Hours are noon-11pm, depending on the weather. Food is being served.
So far 11 pubs in Sunderland city centre have confirmedtheywillbewelcoming customers again on April 12, as will a further 12 in Washington.
