Very fortunate not to be shown a second yellow for a trip just moments before he was replaced by Denver Hume. Struggled to contain his winger for the most part. 4

Got into dangerous positions on numerous occasions but just didn’t produce enough quality from his team. Hasn’t brought enough in this crucial week. 5

JOSH SCOWEN

Snatched at some promising chances and didn’t produce enough quality on the ball. 5

GRANT LEADBITTER

Sunderland’s best player through the first half, controlling the middle of the park. Had to take a yellow card to stop a dangerous counter and that reduced his impact through the latter stages. 6

AIDEN MCGEADY

Unfortunate to see his effort strike the inside of the post and bounce away just moments before Blackpool took the lead. Put in one or two dangerous early crosses but little impact late on. 6

AIDEN O’BRIEN

Made some good runs in the opening exchanges but had little sight of goal. Blackpool’s centre-half pairing were excellent and got the better of their opponents on the day. 5

CHARLIE WYKE

Toiled away against two impressive Blackpool performers and had very little sight of goal, one late snapshot from the edge of the box aside. 5
