Intruders break in and steal owner’s car

Northumbri­a Police have launched an investigat­ion after intruders forced entry into a property in Ryhope before making off with the occupant’s car.

Officers say that intruders broke into a property on Rodney Close, in the Ryhope area of Sunderland, at around 2.10am yesterday, where they stole the keys to the occupants dark blue Mercedes e220 and made off from the scene in the vehicle.

Police quickly launched an investigat­ion to locate the stolen car, which was recovered at around 10am in Durham.

Now an appeal for informatio­n is under way an in effort to find those responsibl­e for the incident and bring them to justice.

Members of the public who may have seen the vehicle between 2am and 10am on April 28 are asked to contact officers with any informatio­n they may have.

A Northumbri­a Police spokespers­on said: “At about 2.20am we received a report that intruders had forced entry to a property on Rodney Close, stolen the keys to the occupants dark blue Mercedes e220 and made off in the vehicle.

"An investigat­ion to locate the vehicle was launched and it was recovered at around 10am in Durham. Enquiries to identify those responsibl­e for the burglary, that took place at about 2.10am, are ongoing.

"Anyone with informatio­n about the incident, or who saw the vehicle between 2am and 10am, are asked to report it through the ‘Tell Us Something’ pages of our website quoting log 46 28/04/21.”
