Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole praised his players for their impressive win at Horden CW and quickly turned his focus towards Saturday’s trip to Chester-leStreet United.

A solitary goal from Harry Munday was enough to give Cole’s side a narrow win at Welfare Park on Wednesday as they bounced back from a 5-2 home defeat against Durham Corinthians in fine fashion.

The win moved Silksworth up to fourth place in the Alan Hood Charity Cup group one table and they are now level on points with the three sides above them ahead of Saturday’s visit to the Riverside Complex.

Cole assessed his side’s midweek win by saying: “Wednesday night was chalk and cheese compared to the defeat at Saturday’s game against Durham.

“We went to Horden expecting a difficult game as always and we should have come away with a more convincing win.

“We made changes from Saturday’s side and they paid off.

“The lads put a shift in, it was just a great team performance which puts us right in the mix for our last two games.

“But now we are expecting a very hard game against a young, fit and well-drilled Chester-le-Street United side.

“It’s another totally different game.”

Cole confirmed that he will be without the services of Liam Mulvain and Joe Clayton for the game.

Elsewhere in group one, Washington United have a number of players missing as

they look to move off the bottom of the table with a win at Durham Corinthians.

Matt Thornton, Stephen Ord, Aidan Mutch and Callum Thomson are all expected to miss out – but Jordan Lee will return after missing the last three game.

The final game in the group sees second placed Gateshead Leam Rangers host Richmond Town.

Darlington RA’s midweek home win against FC Hartlepool has put them in control of group two.

The former Northern League club sit two points clear of second placed Boldon CA and will hope to extend their lead with a home win against Annfield Plain.

West Auckland Tunns will be targeting their first point in the competition when they entertain Farringdon Detached.
