Hume's return will prove key for Cats ahead of play-off battle
Denver Hume has slotted in nicely since he has come back from his spell on the sidelines at Sunderland. He is the type of player that is quite unassuming on the pitch but you notice when he is not there.
It has been evident that the energy and balance he brings to that that left-hand side had been missing during his absence. Callum McFadzean showed at times he can be a decent threat offensively when he has played there over these past few weeks, but I do feel with Hume back in there, he offers a bit more defensively than McFadzean, especially in one versus one situations.
With so many defenders injured at the minute it’s important that actual defenders play in the backline and I feel a lot more secure with Hume playing there than anyone else. He also showed that he can offer just as much going forward with his clever followup and finish on Saturday against Plymouth Argyle.
He is an experienced Sunderland player now despite his young years and that could prove vital over these next few massive weeks.
