Make it a fan-tastic atmosphere at SoL!

We’re on our way, we’re on our way...

Saturday, May 22, is a day thousands of Sunderland AFC fans have been looking forward to for a long time. That will be the day when 10,000 supporters will walk back through the turnstiles to cheer on the Lads at the Stadium of Light for the first time since March last year.

Football, of course, has continued in that time. But not as we know and love it. The noise and passion generated by the Red & White Army is unmatched across the land and the fantastic atmosphere they create has been missed while matches have had to be played behind closed doors. And what a game to return for. The second leg of the playoff clash with Lincoln City as the Black Cats look to bid farewell to League One and move up into the Championship.

It was no surprise that thousands were logged on in a ‘virtual queue’ as tickets went on sale yesterday morning for the hottest seats on Wearside. It has been a long season and there was disappointment in the final stages of the campaign when high hopes of automatic promotion slipped away. But, after the success in the Papa John’s EFL Trophy Final at Wembley, the play-offs present a great opportunity for Lee Johnson and the players to enjoy more success.

Behind the scenes, the club has been working with NHS experts to ensure the ground is ready for the return of supporters. And even if it may only be a quarter full, we know the roar when the team walks out will be awesome. It’s a perfect time for SAFC to welcome back its 12th man. To those lucky enough to get a ticket, we only have one request: Raise the roof!
