Three out for Silksworth for visit of table-toppers Harbour

In Readers Durham and Northeast Cricket League Division Two, Silksworth welcome table-toppers Seaham Harbour this weekend.

Silksworth skipper Andy Barrass said: “Kieron Laws and Ben Lobban continue to miss out due to work commitment­s and Robbie Jones is still struggling with an injury.

“We have got a tough game this weekend against Seaham Harbour, who have started well.

“We’ve had good spells in both our games so far, and hopefully we can build on that and get a positive result.”

Seaham Harbour skipper Stewart Pattison said: “We are hoping the weather stays dry and we can see new Sri Lankan profession­al Nisala Tharaka Gamage in action.

“Shaun Hagan comes into the side to strengthen the batting line-up.”

Ryhope, in second place, entertain Evenwood at Recreation Park, and chairman Ian Lawrence said: “We only have one change this week, with Chris Lawrence returning to the first team after being unavailabl­e due to a family commitment last weekend.”

Boldon CA entertain Mainsforth, and skipper Stuart Smith said: “We are back to full strength this weekend and hoping to pick up the win and start off our season.

“We’re looking forward to bouncing back at the weekend after being rained off last week.”

Tudhoe travel to bottom

club Horden, and skipper David Curry said: “We have two changes from the last game against Peterlee. Current junior Sam Jeavons and former junior Harrison Whitfield come in for all-rounder Jack Warren and left-arm seamer Josh Farlow. We have had some good games with Horden over the years and I’m sure this will be no different.”

Murton, in third place,

travel to Hunwick, but Peterleeha­venogameth­isweekend.

In Division One, league leaders Seaham Park entertain Bill Quay, and skipper Dale Shaw said: “After a disappoint­ing weekend of rain, we are looking to play well against a Bill Quay side who will give us a test, and we have a full team so that should give us the firepower we need to beat them, but they won’t roll

over.”

Esh Winning, in third place, travel to Hylton, and skipper Paul Chivers said: “Jonathan Hodgson is back in for Mark Davison. Hopefully, we will get a game in after the washout last week and we look forward to the game.”

Dawdon Welfare host Littletown, and skipper Nathan Newton said: “Andy Beer is back in for Ryan Consitt and

we are hoping to get our first win on the board this weekend after last weekend’s washout.”

Brandon are at Marsden, and skipper Owen Peterson said: “Opening bowler Steven Neilsen is expected to return following a fractured index finger.

“A tough game is expected as Brandon are one of the favourites to win the league.

“I’m happy that we seem to be gelling, as there are five new players from last season, so hopefully we can give it a good shot.”

South Shields, in second place, take on fifth-placed Ushaw Moor and the South Tynesiders will be looking to build on their promising start to the season at Dean Road.

Durham City have no game this weekend.
