Green light for development of family homes
Plans for new family homes near a Wearside pub have been given the stamp of approval.
Last year, a planning application was lodged with Sunderland City Council for land adjacent to the Beehive public house, which sits off a roundabout connecting Blind Lane and Coaley Lane in the Houghton ward.
According to planning documents, the site was previously granted outline planning consent for five detached dwellings, although this was never brought forward.
New plans approved by the council’s planning department include outline permission for two detached homes on the same site.
A decision report states the current proposal is to provide “custom and self build plots for the current land owner.”
All matters such as access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale are ‘reserved’ until a later date and will require another planning application.
The council decision report reads: “The principle of the residential development within this plot of land is still considered to remain acceptable under the recently adopted Core Strategy and Development Plan.
“All matters are reserved, however the supporting design and access Statement by
GW Architectural does provide an indicative demonstration of layout and access that demonstrate the site can accommodate the quantum of units proposed, scale of development and an access point can be provided to the south east of the site.”
The design and access statement prepared for the applicant adds: “The properties are sized to provide two bespoke family homes for the current landowners.”
