Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is rumoured to be ‘keen’ on Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady.

The 35-year-old’s contract expires this summer and newly promoted Posh are said to be interested in a deal for the attacker.

Sunderland have made an offer to Manchester United youngster Jacob Carney with Brighton and Burnley also in the running to sign the 21-year-old goalkeeper.

Sunderland-linked Jermain Defoe wants to stay at Rangers ‘forever’.

The striker is out of contract at the end of next month and is currently due to become a free agent and has been linked with a return to the Stadium of Light.

However, the former England international has stated he would like to remain with Rangers.

He said “I want to stay here forever. I love it here. Everyone knows it’s special.

"When I spoke to the manager when I was coming here, the first thing he said is ‘you will love it here.’

“I’ve loved every minute, it’s been fantastic. I’m lost for words, it’s amazing.”
