Police forced to intervene and take action on e-scooter riders in Sunderland.

Liam Wilkinson: Really surprised the council hasn't built a car park for them yet.

Steven Thirlwell:

Great idea but sadly you always get people breaking all the rules. I drove along the seafront today and saw four people together not one with a helmet on, then coming back into town saw this kid jumping a red light just missing people on a crossing then continued up a street on the wrong side of the road.

Simon Blakeston: That's all well and good but it still doesn't stop parents from letting kids ride them by using their licence details.

John Thompson:

Scooters released in March, safety event in May. It’s the Sunderland way.

John Coates: If you want it to work control it better or penalise owners.

Kyle Hyde: I just nearly killed someone today on one, to be honest it's an accident waiting to happen.

Jacqui Marsden: Such a shame you always get the idiots as these are a really good way to get around if used properly.

Chris Melville: About time. I've no bother when they are used properly but they are a menace to motorists. I don't know how I haven't knocked several down already in both Newcastle and Sunderland.

Matthew Mallaby: They should introduce lanes across Seaburn for any intoxicated scooter drivers for everyone’s safety.

Tom Booth: Ones I've seen were used correct but like anything Police should intervene if need be.

Andy Hanlon: If used with the helmet they are supposed to be used with then great. If used when drunk/no road knowledge/stupidity like the majority then it's a bad idea.

Simon Tindle: They’re using them successfully in lots of towns and cities so why not Sunderland?

John Mcmahon: Should ban them.
