Silksworth hoping to notch up their first win of the season

In Readers Durham and Northeast Cricket League Division Two, struggling Silksworth will be looking for their first win as they journey to Evenwood.

Their skipper, Andy Barrass, said: “We’re still missing Robbie Jones, Paul Smailes and Michael Waterson through injury but should welcome back Phil Middlemiss and Ben Lobban.

“Last weekend’s game was tough, but we try and take the positives into this week’s game.”

League leaders Seaham Harbour take on Hunwick and skipper Ian Pattison is sticking with the same team that won at Silksworth by eight wickets last week.

“Wearehopin­gJordanWil­son continues his impressive form with the ball,” he said.

Ryhope, in second place, traveltoMa­insforthan­dchairmanI­anLawrence­said:“Weare unchanged from last week after another narrow victory in a low-scoring game.”

Boldon CA are second bottom and have a tough game at Tudhoe, in third place. Skipper Stuart Smith said: “Niall Cutter and Dom Slater are in to make their first team debuts after joining the club recently. It should be a testing game against a new addition to the league in Tudhoe and we look forward to the game.”

Tudhoe skipper David Curry said: “We are expecting to field a weakened team against on Saturday with Andrew Carrick, Will Jewitt and

Harrison Whitfield all unavailabl­e for various different reasons.”

Curry added: “It’s a shame that we are having to make some changes to the team after last Saturday’s good win against Horden.

“The players that are unavailabl­e will be replaced by lads that usually play for the second XI. Neverthele­ss we will give it our all and we are

looking forward to the game”

Peterlee travel to Murton and skipper Joe Spalding said: “It is a big game for us this weekend, with them being in a similar league position to us. Ben Green comes in for his first appearance of the season with Andrew Laidler and Dan Devine both unavailabl­e.”

Horden have no game on. Division One league leaders

Seaham Park visit Littletown and skipper Dale Shaw said: “After a convincing win last week, I think we can continue our good run of form against an in-form Littletown side. We will need to play well to beat them and hopefully continue our unbeaten run.”

Esh Winning, in third place, take on Dawdon Welfare and skipper Paul Chivers said: “Peter Taylor comes in

for Billy Storey. We were disappoint­ed with last week’s result, so hopefully we will get back to winning ways.”

Dawdon skipper Nathan Newton said: “Kyle Abdy and David Renwick are in for Andy Beer and Harry Morgan. My thoughts for the game are it can’t be any worse than last week!”

Durham City journey to second-bottom club Marsden,

and host skipper Owen Peterson said: “Steven Neilsen and Andrew Davies are unavailabl­e and Mackenzie Wright will undergo a late fitness test before the game, following a fractured knuckle.”

In the other games, Brandon, in fourth place, travel to bottom club Bill Quay and Hylton are at Ushaw Moor.

South Shields have no game this weekend.
