Do something for this city

-

I am writing about the regeneration of this city of Sunderland, if you can call it a city.

I would like to know, are we going to have a regeneration of Sunderland and are we going to have new department stores opening here or are buildings that are empty going to be reused?

This would create jobs for people who have been out of work for years or being paid off due to the pandemic.

Plus online shopping should be stopped so people can do shopping the way it should be done so people can talk to shop assistants.

Some years ago, Sunderland was given city status; my brother

John Lennox was a Liberal councillor and was presented to the Queen with other councillors who gave Sunderland city status. Are we classed as a city or a town?

Some years ago I left Sunderland to look for work in the Channel Islands and lived with my sister and brother-in-law.

When I left Sunderland the place was a mess and I think it still is (on the decline).

Is it at all possible to improve Sunderland I would like to ask?

Plus we lost our identity when we became Tyne and Wear; what happened to County Durham in our postcode?

I am now back here in Sunderland.

I was working away for 10 years and came back looking for work for five years, and was in and out of work (short term contracts).

In the end I could not afford to work.

I fear nothing has improved here, there is nothing for the people of this city until it improves or something happens entertainment wise.

Please do something for the people of this city.

our lives.”
