‘Something special’ on the cards next season

-

Gateshead striker Cedwyn Scott is hoping to make up for lost time by helping his new side achieve “something special” next season.

The former Dunston UTS and Berwick Rangers frontman was released by League Two club Carlisle United last week after struggling to force hiswayintoChrisBeech’sfirstteam plans.

His spell in Cumbria was somewhat underwhelming after the Brunton Park outfit handed him a short-term deal following his impressive goal-laden stint with Hebburn Town.

Despite scoring for Carlisle’s reserves throughout his five-month stay, Scott’s firstteam involvement amounted to under an hour of football in seven substitute appearances.

“I can’t wait to get started,” he told The Echo.

“I was a little bit frustrated with my lack of game-time at Carlisle, butthat’sjustfootball, it’sacompetitiveenvironment, everyone was trying their best to get into the side.

“I went there, I gave it my best shot and unfortunately it wasn’t to be. But I can’t dwell on what happened there, and I won’t do that. It’s just made me even more hungry to get going again with Gateshead.”

A purple patch of goalscoring form at Hebburn Town earlier this season saw Scott capture the attention of the likes of Newcastle United, SunderlandandPeterborough United.
