Sunderland's promotion hopes ended after a thrilling play-off against Lincoln City with all eyes now on what next for the Black Cats?

Sunderland are having to face up to the reality of a fourth season in League One following the 3-2 aggregate loss to Lincoln, with 16 players out of contract this summer another major rebuild is on the cards.

Today we are launching our annual Big SAFC Survey and we want to know your views on the season just gone, what next for Sunderland and the type of players they should be targeting this summer.

How much do you think new owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus needs to spend this summer to get Sunderland in a position to challenge for the full season? What do you make of the job done by head coach Lee Johnson?

Johnson replaced Phil Park in son back in December and led Sunderland into the playoffs, but a disappointing end to the season and a long winless run ended any hopes of automatic promotion.

Sunderland have now spent three seasons at this level following back-to-back relegations and while the arrival of new owner LouisDreyfus has boosted hopes of a much brighter future on Wearside, the first objective remains winning promotion back to the Championship.

And the hard work started as soon as the full-time whistle blew on Saturday at the Stadium of Light.

With that in mind, we would love to get your views on the 2020/21 campaign, what went wrong and where Sunderland can improve?

Who is to blame for the failure to win promotion? Do Aiden McGeady, Max Power, Grant Leadbitter & Co deserve new contracts? Which areas of the squad should be the priority to strengthen?

Will 31-goal Charlie Wyke sign a new deal or move on? What does the future hold for the likes of Elliot Embleton, Will Grigg and Jordan Jones?

We want your views on these topics and much, much more in our annual survey.

The Big SAFC Survey launched today and will run until Friday morning.

We will then look to bring you the results over the weekend as Sunderland reflect on how they can improve, while also looking to quickly move on with the major rebuild that is needed.
