-

Go North East was set to launch a new 24/7 bus service which includes overnight journeys for shift workers at Nissan and new Amazon site Follingsby Park.

Go North East was also to introduce 24/7 timetables on three bus services in the region, including overnight journeys for shift workers employed at Nissan and Follingsby Park.

The North East bus company is launching more journeys through the night on its Angel 21, Cityrider 56 and Drifter 60 routes, which will run seven days a week to help shift workers by providing 24/7 timetables.

Go North East’s Connections 4 service is to be extended to serve the new Amazon site at Follingsby Max for workers at the new firm.

The bus company is also making improvements to the 50A service, which will operate via Cherry Blossom

Way and Nissan to provide an accessible service for employees at IAMP and Nissan and later journeys to South Shields for the latest shift finishes.

The improved service follows the introduction of Go North East’s new £1 evening fare, which can be used for any single journey on any Go North East bus between 7pm each evening and 3am the following morning.

Stephen King, commercial director at Go North East, said: “Just over a week ago we introduced our new £1 evening single fare offer to help give the night-time economy a boost, and we’re delighted to be introducing these enhancements to help play our part in the region’s recovery.”

The new Angel 21, Cityrider 56 and Drifter 60 services were to be introduced from today while improvements to the Connections 4 and Service 50A also go ahead today.
