Louis-Dreyfus sends classy message to departing Sunderland man

With the League One season now having come to a close, Sunderland’s focus turns to the transfer market.

Incomings and outgoings are expected at the Stadium of Light this summer, with a host of deals already mooted.

Here, we take a look at the latest news from the Black Cats. Sunderland chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has sent a message of thanks to departing midfielder Grant Leadbitter.

The 35-year-old will be leaving the club when his contract expires in June and posted an emotional farewell to supporters of the Black Cat son Ins tag ram.

And in response that post, Louis-Dreyfus sent a classy message to the midfielder.

He said :“Thank you for everything and all the best .”

Non-executive director David Jones also posted a message of thanks, saying :“Good luck@ gleadbitte­r23 and thank you”

A host of other current and former players – including Lynden Gooch, Aiden O’Brien and Martyn Waghorn–also replied to the post.

Meanwhile, there is a‘ growing expectatio­n’ that Charlie Wyke will leave Sunderland this summer – reports.

The striker has been offered fresh terms by the Black Cats but is understood to have attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town and Celtic are among those to have been linked withWyke after he net ted 31 times for the club during the 2020/21 season.

And Football Insider have claimed that Sunderland are growing resigned to losing Wyke, with no agreement over a new deal yet to be found.

Sunderland-linked striker Guy Melamed is likely to make a decision over his future in the ‘next few weeks’ – according to his representa­tives.

The Israeli striker has enjoyed a fine season at St Johnstone and has reportedly attracted interest from a host of League One clubs, including Portsmouth and Ipswich.

Melamed recently said he was ‘flattered’ by the interest being shown in him, but has not ruled-out remaining with the Scottish side.

But High Press Sports Management–the firm who represent Me lamed–have now offered a teasing glimpse into the plans of the striker, suggesting a decision over his future will be made imminently.

The firm tweeted: “We can confirm that Guy Melamed is out of contract with @StJohnston­e after an excellent first season. We hope to find out in the next few weeks what he will be doing next season”
