Colly is delighted with new trio but keen to strengthen further
Seaham Red Star manager Mark Collingwood has continued to add to his squad with the signings of defender Max Nelson and midfielder Mark Robinson.
Collingwood got his summer transfer business under way last weekend when he brought in promising striker Adam Lennox from Northern League Division Two club Jarrow.
That move was quickly followed by the additions of ex-Sunderland West End centre-back Nelson and former Whitley Bay midfielder Robinson.
Manager Collingwood’s summer recruitment is not yet complete as he looks to put together a Red Star squad capable of moving on from two difficult seasons in the Northern League’s top tier.
But the Red Star boss is confident that all three of his new additions can add something different when his squad return to competitive action in August.
He told The Echo: “Adam Lennox is the sort of player we really want at the football club.
“He’s young, he’s hungry to impress in Division One and we think he can do that with us.
“Getting Max Nelson is a similar move because he’s a talented lad.
"He’s keen to get a chance in Division One and we think he has enough about him to become a very good player at
this level.
“I’ve spoken to people I trust about him and I have been impressed with his attitude.
“Mark Robinson is a big signing for us too because
he gives some real energy in midfield and he always caused problems against us last season.
“He is a great lad, and he was very keen to sign.
“He has shown he can do it again top opposition and we are really happy to have brought him in.
“All three players will add something different and something we maybe missed at times.”
Collingwood confirmed he is talking to a number of other potential signings as he prepares his squad for a return to pre-season training next month.
“We need to bring in some more players to strengthen the squad and hopefully we can do that over the next few weeks,” he explained.
“We have players we are talking to so we will see what happens with them.”
