Top baking fails suffered by Brits during past year!

-

The past 14 months have brought out a range of unforseen skills in Brits as lockdown has kept them indoors.

Many have turned to baking as a hobby to prevent them from going stir crazy, but not all concoctions have been a triumph.

The team at www.bakerdays.com surveyed more than 2,300 UK-based adults about their baking skills over the past year as there have been well-documented rises in the number of people turning to baking to pass the time.

A total of 42 per cent of respondents admitted to having had a baking disaster in the past year. The top failures they’ve encountered include ...

1 The decoration was terrible and didn’t look how it was supposed to/how I envisioned it – 58 per cent.

2 I burnt the cake – 31 per cent.

3 I didn’t follow a recipe and guessed at measurements and the process, with poor results – 20 per cent.

4 I didn’t have the right ingredients, improvised and it didn’t taste nice – 14 per cent.

5 The cake collapsed – nine per cent.

Founder of Treats and Bites - www.bakerdays.com - Andrea Guzyova said: “Baking can be so much fun, however it’s not always a smooth ride when it comes to baking cakes that taste good, look amazing and impress your loved ones.”

She added: “There are many fun options on the market for delicious and beautiful cakes, that can be personalised with your photos, words and to the flavour of your choice. So, if baking isn’t your strong point, consider saving your money and leaving it to the experts.”

bakerdays offer cakes for all occasions, whether as the go-to website for birthday, anniversary, thank you, Father’s Day and other cakes, as well as being the second-stop for all those who have had a cake disaster at home and are looking for a fun, creative, personalised back up.

All cakes can be personalised and are available in a variety of flavours, from sponge and lemon drizzle to rich choc chip and fabulous fruit, gluten, dairy and vegan options.
