Haldane is named new Easington Colliery boss

Ebac Northern League Division Two club Easington Colliery have confirmed the appointmen­t of Lee Haldane as their new manager.

The move comes after former Colliers joint-managers Craig Hughes and David Pounder left the club to join a newlookman­agementtea­mat Division One club Ryhope CW.

Easington have also revealed that Stuart Niven and Paul Wardle will assist Haldane as the club look to challenge at the top end of Division Two throughout the coming season.

Haldane was part of the management team at Ashbrooke Belford House during their time as a Wearside League club and has plenty of experience in his new backroom staff.

Former Scotland Youth internatio­nal and Shildon assistant manager Niven will remain in position at the club after originally moving to Welfare Park in late 2018.

Former Bedlington Terriers captain Wardle in wellversed in life in the Northern League after playing for the likes of Sunderland RCA, Chester-le-Street Town and Hebburn Town.

It was also confirmed that long-serving physio Tom Goodey will remain with the club after the new look managerial team was appointed.

*Manchester City and Leicester will raise the curtain on the 2021/22 campaign by playing the Community Shield on August 7.

City, who have won the silverware six times, take on the FA Cup winners at Wembley seven days before they begin the defence of their Premier League title.

The game will kick-off at 5pm and will be shown live on ITV. The Football Associatio­n will advise on crowd numbers at a later date.
