Former PC to appeal against his dismissal
A police constable booted out of Northumbria Police after he subjected a colleague to “unwanted touching” on a work night out and other incidents is vying for his job back.
Former officer Grant Parker was dismissed from the force without notice by a misconduct panel last September after it found he breached standards of professional behaviour.
These covered discreditable conduct, authority, respect and courtesy and confidentiality.
In a one-day remote hearing on Monday, June 7, the force will hear an appeals tribunal as the ex-cop bids to change the outcome of the action.
During last year’s hearing, the panel heard Mr Parker subjected a colleague to “unwanted touching” on a work night out.
Another complaint detailed how he met a woman in a cafe for around three hours while dressed in his uniform.
A third dealt with by senior members of the force said he was at the home of a woman, a member of the public, when he showed her confidential policing material.
The force sacked him following a five-day misconduct hearing, which found all three allegations proven, putting him in breach of its professional standards.
It revealed details after it was held private due to the pandemic.
At that time, Superintendent Steve Ammari, head of professional standards, said: “We want to make it extremely clear that his behaviour was completely unacceptable.” Mr Parker had been based in Newcastle.
