Page makes move back to former club Easington

-

Easington Colliery manager Lee Haldane has made an impressive start to his summer recruitment by persuading midfielder Luke Page to return to the club.

Page became a firm favourite at Welfare Park during his previous spell with the Colliers and became one of the most highly rated players in the Northern League’s second tier.

His consistent form and powerful, all-action style captured the attention of several higher-ranked clubs, and it was Sunderland RCA that won the race for his services ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Page continued to impress in Division One and eventually moved further up the non-league pyramid when he secured a switch to Dunston UTS following their promotion into the Northern Premier League in 2019.

He scored five goals in 41 appearances over two disrupted seasons with Chris Swailes’ side – but Page will now return to Easington after Haldane made him his main target after he was appointed as the club’s new manager last week.

The Colliers boss told the club website: “I'm delighted to get Pagey signed.

"As soon as I was appointed manager, he was my first target and it's brilliant to get him in so quickly.

"As well as his class having played at a higher level, Luke will give us power and athleticism from the middle of the pitch.

"He'll also bring a will to win which will be invaluable to the younger lads at the club.

"Luke is a player of top quality and will be a massive asset to the squad.”
