Ambitions United unveil off-field plans to support on-field targets
Ambitious Chester-Le-Street United have unveiled plans for a new ground to give them a home in the heart of the town.
After a successful first season in the Wearside League, the focus now turns towards the future as a talented young squadlooktotaketheclubinto the Northern League.
Any on-field ambitions are being matched off the pitch after the club confirmed they are partnering with Park View Academy of Sport with proposals for a new state-ofthe-art ground at Park View School.
The ground will have a clubhouse,changingfacilities, on-site parking and a full-size 3G pitch, which will provide a playing surface for the club’s men’s and women’s teams.
The club confirmed the plans will support ground grading requirements as both sides look to progress up their respective league pyramids.
Unitedsaidtheschemewill benefit other sides within the clubandthelocalcommunity.
A club statement said: “The ground will also serve as a home to more than 50 junior boys and girls teams from Chester-Le-Street United’s Youth section with the aim of this facility to provide a community hub for all of Chesterle-Street to enjoy.
“The facility will be open to other community users and will be operated in partnership between the club and Park View Community Centre.
“The club offers full and realistic pathways from our Mini United – pre-school – session all the way to the first teamswhoproudlyrepresent the town at the weekend.
“From top to bottom we continue to strive to deliver thebestfootballenvironment forourplayersandtheground is huge step towards doing just that as it will allow all our teams to train on 3G surfaces all year round.
“The plans will also kickstart the club’s disability football and walking football programmes ensuring we bring football all year round toallmembersofourcommunity and those at most risk of social-isolation.
“Aspartofourcommunity cohesion programme we aspiretoworkwithandsupport localbusinessesfollowingthe Covid-19 pandemic by bringingmorefootfallintothetown andsupporttheregeneration of Chester-le-Street.”
Planningapprovalisawaited,buttheclubhopeworkwill start next month and be completed by the end of January.
