Town boss delighted as Donaghy signs deal

-

Hebburn Town have confirmed young defender Jack Donaghy has signed a new contract ahead of their first season in the Northern Premier League.

The Hornets will face the likes of Dunston UTS, Marske United and Shildon in the new-look East Division and manager Kevin Bolam has been hard at work putting together a squad capable of challenging during a historic campaign.

The majority of the Hornets squad have committed to the club this summer, with only veteran striker Graeme Armstrong departing after announcing his retirement.

Donaghy became the latest player to commit his future to the Hornets on Thursday by signing a new one-year deal, with an option of a further year.

The centre-back has been with his hometown club for the last five years on a noncontract basis.

However, his progression has now been rewarded with his first contract.

Hornets boss Bolam praised the defender for the progression he has made during his time at the club and insisted Donaghy can become a key part of his plans for ‘many seasons to come’.

He said: “I’m really happy we have agreed the deal with Jack.

“He’s been at the club four or five years now and I’ve been his manager at youth level so have seen how he's developed and how he continues to progress.

“He’s very much part of mine and the club’s plans for next season and many seasons to come.

“He’s a local lad, comes from good stock and it's a pleasure to have him as part of our squad.”
