STORY

Work has started on creating the gin bar in the former Roker Toilet Block in Pier View.

Barbara Donkin: Forges ahead? It's been going on for months. After an initial flourish, there's been no work. They closed the footpath in a very dangerous spot for pedestrians. Wish they would hurry up and finish or remove the blockade from the pavement.

Jamie Mclaren: They should pull it down and turn it into a car park for cars to park and people to enjoy the sea and beach maybe have a bag of chips or a cornet.

Margy James: So where do the kids go when they are desperate for the toilet.

Alan Fenwick: I am all for new business and I am all up for increasing the availability of Gin. However this just smacks of the council offloading public services I'd be all for it if a new toilet block was being put in nearby!

Alan Bulmer: Beg to differ on that there’s nothing happened there for months the place looks a right eye sore brings down the tone of the area and I won’t even mention the car park behind it

absolute disgusting mess.

Liz Brewis: Toilets are hard to find and when you do they are closed so why take them away to make a gin bar.

Neil Smith: Pubs have barely seen a customer for a year and someone wants to plough their cash into a Roker gin bar? Good luck!

Rita Jameson: Not another one something for the children please.

Simon Whitaker: There’s a beach down there. Loads to do on the beach for kids.

Dale Collinson: Class news. Good luck to the owners.

Andrea Butting: Why are people whinging about there now being no loos? There’s a new toilet block literally yards away.

Wendy Hawdon: What are they building on the car park behind the new toilet block?

Thomas Henderson:

They can use the toilets that are now in a much better location down the bank.
