Ryhope looking to sink Harbour and close in on league leaders

The top two in the Readers Durham & North East Cricket League Division Two meet up at the Recreation Park, as Ryhope in second place, entertain league leaders Seaham Harbour.

Chairman Ian Lawrence said: “This week we have one change to the team, as Graeme Pickering is unavailabl­e, so Davy Gilbert steps in to take his place.”

Seaham Harbour skipper Stewart Pattison said: “We travel in the knowledge that we have Niall Cowell and Dane Wilson returning to the side, in place of Nathan Holmes and Niall Crosby.”

Boldon CA continue their quest to avoid relegation, at home to Evenwood.

Skipper Stuart Smith said: “Adam Crooks misses out due to work, so Matt Donnelly comes in for him, alongside Ryan Hale who also returns.

"Rob O’Brien returns back to the club after having a season out, and makes his home debut straight away.”

Silks worth entertain Mu rt on and desperatel­y need a win, to climb out of the relegation zone.

Silksworth skipper Andy Barr ass said :“Hopefully, Adam Fair ley and Ben Lob ban return to the team this weekend, but Phil Middle miss is again missingdue­tos elf-isolation andKie ran Laws misses out also.

"Last weekend we put in a decent performanc­e again, but that first win still eludes us. However, we will try and put that right this weekend against Murton.”

In the other two games, Horden who are 12 points from safety have a tough game at home to promotion chasing Mainsforth, while Hunwick entertain and in-form Peterlee side who have entered the promotion race recently, due to their good form.

It is a massive game at the top of Division One, as Esh Winning in second place, travel to league leaders South Shields. Esh skipper Paul Chivers said: “We only have one change this week, as Mark Davison comes in for Ben McKenna. We are looking forward to a tough game against the top of the table team.”

Sea ham Park in third place, entertain Brandon and skip per Dale Shaw said: “Neil Young returns after isolation; Jonny Foster drops out due to family commitment­s. We are looking to build on our win over Dawdon against a good Brandon side. We are hoping to keep our unbeaten run at home intact and build up some more momentum, moving into the second half of the season.”

Littletown travel to Hylton and head of cricket Craig A run de ls aid :“Our side resemblesm­ore of a familiar side this week, after a Covid outbreak ravaged the side and only left three regular first team players available last week.”

Captain Paul Cassell was hugely grateful to those who stepped up, he said: “The lads that played were a huge credit to the club and whilst the secondteam fixture got cancelled, we were happy to be able to still field a side.

"Isolations are coming to an end this week, so we have several players returning and hopefully we can get back to normal.”

In the other two games, Dawdon Welfare need precious points to get out of the relegation zone and they meet bottom club Bill Quay at home. U shaw Moor are also in trouble at the bottom and face a tough game away at Durham City.

Marsden have no game this weekend.
