Echo readers’ verdict on plans to transform Sunderland’s railway station. What do you think of the design?

Jean Nelson: It looks great, but would benefit from a drop off /pick up area.

Joanna Hindmarsh:

Someone’s head will go threw that on a weekend. It will forever be getting repaired broken windows.

Janine Crawford:

Well anything would be an improvement but that isn't an inspiring design and will look dated in no time and I'm guessing you are still are going to have to descend down to the platforms which will still be a hellish experience.

Shaza Storey: Looks fab, anything an improvement on the eyesore now.

Wilf Newall: About time, light years behind railway stations with Cities the size of Sunderland.

Geoff McNight: Think it looks fabulous.

Mandy Scott: Looks a hell of a lot better that’s for sure.

Jean McCardle: When exiting Sunderland's new station, why not pop into one of the many quaint/ specialised shops in Blandford Street, and a must visit will be to one of the two traditional English pubs in Holmside, Sinatra's or Joseph's. What a joke, according to a senior Councillor, the new station will pull visitors into the city. Really?

Smithy Wilkins: So they're knocking the walls out and putting some glass in.

Gavin Raitt: What about the seagulls getting out of hand?

Pat Robson: Anything is better than what we have.

Chris Parry: Initial money coming from grant. Where’s the rest coming from?

Brian Fuller-Blige: They want to get shot of those lights on the wall that look like people walking.

MS Sims: You can guarantee the train fares will go up.

Ian Pattison: bonny.
