Boldon CA to travel Horden in historic first Northern League fixture

-

Boldon CA will face a familiar foe in their first ever competitive fixture as a Northern League club.

David Crumbie’s men will travel to former Wearside League rivals Horden CW on the first Tuesday of August as both clubs begin life in step six of the non-league system.

The news rounds off a whirlwind few days for

Boldon after their historic elevation into the Northern League was confirmed following a successful appeal to the Football Association.

However, their wait to take part in a Northern League fixture will face a slight delay as they are the odd-team out on the opening weekend in a 21-club division.

Their trip to Welfare

Park comes in the first midweek of the new season and the Villa will host Northern League football for the first time when Durham City visit on the second weekend of August.

There are also two South Tyneside derbies on the horizon as Boldon host local rivals Jarrow on Tuesday, August 24, and the return fixture takes place at Perth

Green on Saturday, November 11.

Crumbie is looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead at a higher level and admitted that reality hit home when the fixtures were released on Monday evening.

Crumbie said: “It will be a difficult game at Horden, it’s never an easy place to go because they’re a strong side.

“No matter who we got on the first game, it was always going to be about occasion rather than the result.

“We weren’t expecting the fixtures on Monday, it was a bit out of the blue, but it was nice to look through them and go into planning mode for the season.

“We are confident we can give a good account of ourselves.

“There are no easy games, it’s hit home what is ahead, and we are relishing the challenge of being the underdog in a higher level.”

Crumbie has also confirmed several new signings before the new season with the likes of former Dunston UTS striker Dessie Da Silva and Billingham Town forward Brandon Kirkbride all joining the club.
