Cole hoping Silksworth build on from pre-lockdown

-

Silksworth CW manager Jamie Cole believes his side have been handed a tough start to their Wearside League campaign as they prepare to travel to Wolviston tonight.

The visit to Metcalfe Park offers Cole an immediate opportunity to assess the qualities within his squad against a Wolviston side that have strengthened considerably throughout a busy summer.

The Teesside outfit have recruited several new signingswithexperienceofplaying higher up the non-league system and Cole is realistic about the challenge that lies in wait for his side.

He told The Echo: “It’s not the best of starts but it is what it is, and you have to play them at some point.

“Ithasbeenafunnypre-season because we played in the West End Tournament, and weendedupfieldingsidesthat werenowherenearourstrongest.

“It’sanearlystarttotheseason and we have lost some importantplayerstotheNorthern League, so it hasn’t been ideal.

“But we have recruited as well, and I think we can build on where we were before the lockdown, ratherthantheperformances we put in when we came out of it.”

Winger Jordan Dagg and forward Callum Patton are both amongst a number of players that could make their Silksworthdebutsinthegame.

Elsewhere tonight, Farringdon Detached will look to bounce back from their opening day defeat at Richmond Town when they travel to First Division newcomers Shotton Colliery.
