Self-build homes plan for city outskirts site

-

A pilot scheme which will help buyers to build their own dream home is being run in County Durham.

Durham County Council is working with Custom Build Homes to develop nine serviced plots at Trinity Mews, on the outskirts of Durham City.

The scheme, the first in the county, will provide people with the opportunity to design their own home in their own style.

Power, drainage and other utilities have now been installed alongside an access road and each plot has outline planning permission – allowing residents to work with an architect to create their own home.

Custom Build Homes are also able to support potential buyers through the design, planning and construction process.

Cllr James Rowlandson, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for resources, investments and assets, said: “This pilot scheme is a fantastic opportunity for buyers to build their dream home and I’m sure the plots will be in high demand.

"We are pleased to be working with Custom Build Homes to help guide buyers through this process and are excited about any further opportunitiestocomeinCounty Durham.”
