STORY

The new Highway Code that will affect every driver, giving bikes and pedestrians priority.

Ally Stockdale: Well if pedestrians are gonna have priority then they need foot insurance!!! Gonna be more people splattered on the roads!!! Ridiculous.

Scott Walker: I'm just sticking to the old school rules. Beware of the bigger one.

Les Hodgson: How does this change. Years ago when I learnt to drive, I was taught to slow down on approach to a zebra and watch for folks waiting on the curb, stop and let them cross.

Joanne Davison: Who has legal priority doesn't really matter if you're the walker and up against a wagon.

Ian Daggett: How are these changes to highway code it's still the same as in the 1980s which is when I passed my test.

Judith Stacey: Always did and will give way too any pedestrian waiting at a zebra crossing. Horses should keep too bridle paths and cyclists should stay on cycle paths unless

travelling too work.

Carley Batey: “Proposed changes” - these haven’t been agreed and won’t be discussed until autumn.

Shaun Hamilton: Why is it changing after 2100 years?

Samantha Lynn: So no change then, because I was taught this back in 2004 when I was learning to drive.

Stu Thopson: SoifI have read this correctly, drivers in a busy town centre will cause countless traffic jams as they wait for hundreds of shoppers to cross a junction.

David Owens: Ahhh makes sense now .... that's why most of Sunderland is 20mph! For the cyclists.

Johnny Downing: Does that mean cyclists pay road tax now?

Lee Scott: Will cyclist stop at lights now? Or zebra crossings?

Trevor Warn: More chaos and deaths.
