Sunderland Strollers A team finished 13th (31.02) with their team of Andrew Forbes (9.46),MikeHobson(11.30)and Darren Wake (11.45).
TheBteamwere19th(35.56) withPeterSissons(11.47),Richard Barker (11.34) and Michael Cox (12.35).
The C team took 20th through Paul Dunlop (11.42), Andrew Hay (12.19) and Jason Clement (12.02).
Birtley won the women’s race, with Chole Price the fastest of the day with 11.11, Rebecca Pottin (13.18) and Lisa Short (11.58) the other runners.
There were a host of personal bests in the British Milers’ Club Regional Races at Chester-le-Street on Monday.
And Houghton Harriers were among the claimants with three of their athletes achievingtheirgoal.Theevents are organised with pacemakers, so the chance of you beating your best time is greatly enhanced.
The fastest runner of the night was Houghton Harrier Will Bellamy, who won the A race in a time just outside his PB (with 1.51.92). His clubmate Henry Johnson acted as pacemaker before he departs for Michigan State University on Saturday on an athletics scholarship.LukePickeringrecorded a season’s best of 1.57.82.
In the B race, James Martin improved his fastest time in recording 1.57.14 in third place, while Houghton’s newest member, Under-17 Elvio Loredo, who joined the club from Middleborough and Cleveland Harriers, improved to 2.10.19. The youngest runner, Under-15 Ryan King, also came up trumps with his time of 2.23.32.
Sunderland Harriers are back in organisational mode just a few weeks after hosting their successful 5k Northern and North East Championships at Silksworth Sports Complex. This time they move to Farringdon for their 39th Open Cross Country races in the Ken Jefferson Memorial event, which gets all club members involved, from Under-11s to veterans, and starts 11am on September 4. Entries close on August 30.
