A bold move over vaccines
Mike Baldwin uses
Dominic Cummings "latest revelations" in his attack on the Prime Minister.
Yes, the same Dominic Cummings who was attacked over his drives to Durham and Barnard Castle.
Now they hold him up as a virtue of honesty hanging on to his every word. Another flip flop?
He goes on to claim that the second wave cost 93,000 lives due to a delay in a lockdown.
It would be interesting to see evidence of this.
Mr Baldwin must be reminded that the Prime Minister is only responsible for anti-covid measures in England.
The devolved authorities in the rest of the UK have responsibility for their own measures.
If he wanted to look at UK-wide responsibilities, he could have mentioned the Government’s prompt action in acquiring covid vaccines.
The bold move gave the UK a massive head start in protecting the population, leaving most of the world and in particular the EU standing.
The EU was hamstrung by the cumbersome EU Joint Procurement Scheme for Vaccines.
This embarrassed the EU so much they shamefully tried to block exports on vaccines to the UK.
It is worth recalling that Sir Kier Starmer pushed for the UK to be bound by this EU procurement scheme.
Thank goodness he was ignored.
Yes mistakes were made during the constantly changing flow of advice from the experts, and these will no doubt be covered in the upcoming inquiry.
However, the pandemic was an unprecedented and constantly changing virus.
In early 2020 the World Health Organisation itself said it was unlikely the virus could be passed between humans.
Labour accuses the Government of being reckless one week then say they are not doing enough to open things up again this is simply opportunism.

a laughingstock, but this is not a joke, it is a
tragedy.”
