Summer opens up with al fresco film and food fests

elebrate the summer with outdoor screen events from open air cinema to film and food festivals.

Friends and families hoping to enjoy the great outdoors should check out Adventure Cinema’s open-air cinema tour.

With events at some of the UK’s most attractive venues, the tour invites guests to pack a picnic, pick a cosy blanket and enjoy amazing movies under the sun, or the stars!

During these school holidays, the ongoing tour is stopping in stunning venues up and down the country including heritage parks, iconic sports locations and even a picturesqu­e medieval castle.

The ultimate beauty spots to spend a sunny day or a balmy evening enjoying the magic of classic and timeless movies from The Lion King, Mamma Mia to The Greatest Showman.

Over the summer bank holiday weekend from August 28 to 30, the tour will visit Margam Country Park: a glorious country estate in South Wales, featuring a Grade 1 listed Gothic Tudor mansion, Cistercian monastery and 500 acres of parkland.

Shows include a singalong screening of Grease on Saturday August 28 and a screening of Bohemian Rhapsody on August 30. It’s a perfect way to top off a summer staycation.

Showings still to take place include Sewerby Hall in Bridlingto­n with the Greatest Showman Sing-along on August 28 and Grease Singalong on August 29.

At Hedingham Castle, Essex, on August 14 and 15 there is Dirty Dancing as well as Monty Python and the Holy Grail respective­ly.

There’s comedy as well as some of the biggest blockbuste­r movies from the past years.

Film and Food Fest offers four whole days of fun with Saturday and Sunday afternoons reserved for great family films, new and old.

These include Sonic The Hedgehog, Dolittle, Cool Runnings, Lion King and Grease.

Guests can expect delicious street food from local traders, from gourmet burgers and bruschetta to crepes and caramel ice-cream.

The festival features a dedicated bar for parents, serving great beers and bespoke cocktails along with soft drinks.

Over the bank holiday weekend, Film and Food Fest will be at South London’s

Beckenham Place Park, an area of stunning beauty featuring a Georgian mansion. The festival here will close with a showing of the hilarious JoJo Rabbit, preceded by a music performanc­e and live comedy from Eshaan Akbar.

September dates include Leeds 2 to 5, Wolverhamp­ton 9 to 12 and Manchester 23 to 26.
