Photographers capture stunning wild bird images
ur feathered friends have been put in the frame as part of a competition to find the brightest bird picture and best wild bird photographer.
And 12 budding local wild bird photographers have been named winners in the photographic competition of national amateur photography run by Britain’s bestloved homes and garden retailers wilko, writes Nigel Booth.
Each entered their picture for the 2021 wilko Wild Bird Calendar competition which ran earlier this year.
The judging panel was so impressed with these 12 beautifully captured images that they were chosen as the winning line-up.
Each winner was awarded a £100 wilko voucher and the photograph selected as one of twelve images to be featured in the official 2022 wilko Wild Bird calendar.
Winners were Chris Gilligan from Taunton, Somerset with an image of a Female House Sparrow, David Stephenson from Cockermouth, Cumbria with an image of a Blackbird, George Ewart from Swadlincote, Derbyshire with an image of a Nuthatch, Haydn Newcombe from Wolverhampton with an image of a Greenfinch with two young, John Cobham from Chorley, Lancashire with an image of a Wild Male Kestrel and Keith Bannister from Burnley with an image of Two
Fledgling Kingfishers.
Other winners included Leanne Green from Kidderminster with an image of a Robin, Pat Mansfield from Burnley with an image of a Jay, Paul Turner from West Malling, Kent with an imageofaLong-tailed
Tit, Richard Yorke from Newcastle-underLyme with an image of a Goldfinch, Ross Hamilton from County Durham withanimageofaTawny Owl and Steven Fenton from Southall with an image of a Blue Tit.
The 2022 calendar will be on sale in store and available online at wilko. com in late 2021.
