The Forgotten City

Xbox, PlayStation, PC £24.99

Age rating: 16+

Originally a Skyrim mod, this standalone release throws you back to the final day sofa cursed Roman city, where sin will see you turned into a golden statue. Running through a portal will let you learn from your mistakes, picking up loot along the way in this excellent thriller mystery story. 9/10

The Ascent

Xbox, PC

Included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate / £24.99 Age rating: 18+

In the dangerous neon-filled dystopian cyberpunk world of Veles, you must take up arms, survive and rise. In top-down view, the story isn’t that exciting but you will have fun working your way up, collecting new weapons, armour and abilities in an absolute gun-fest. 7/10

Hunter’s Arena: Legends

PlayStation, PC

£15.99/free w/PlayStation Plus Age rating: 18+

With a choice of 17 different hunters, you will take on other players online (also hunters), as well as ancient demons, focusing on melee attacks. As you progress, you can develop swordplay and martial arts moves. A welcome, adult addition to the battle royale arena. 8/10

Pokemon Unite

Switch (iOS, Android in September)

Free

Age rating: 7+

This 5-on-5 strategic game is simple and to the point. Your Pokemon takes on others in an attempt to reach scoring zones, like the towers seen in other multiplayer online arena games. There are inapp purchases for battle items, but it’s still worth a shot given that it’s (mostly) free. 7/10
