Riley’s over the moon to see RCA into the next round of the FA Cup
Sunderland RCA manager Steve Riley was “over the moon” with his side’s shock FA Cup preliminary round win at Northern Premier League East Division club Frickley Athletic.
Goals from Taylor Richardson, Mark Davison and Tom Best helped their side pull off a major upset against a home teamthathadbeatenHebburn Town in their opening league fixture just seven days earlier.
RCA will learn of their first qualifying round opponents when the draw is made today – but Riley is happy to focus on a finedisplayonSaturdayrather than what lies ahead.
He told The Echo: “The youngladshavestooduptothe challenge down there because it’s a learning curve.
“We have a good mix with the experienced lads in there too,andwewereoverthemoon with the performance.
“I am not too worried what we get in Monday’s draw – although I would like to be at home.
“A lot of clubs don’t like coming to our place, so that would make it interesting.”
