A James Ellis brace and a David Vincent goal helped Ryhope CW round off a good week with a third consecutive win at Billingham Town.

The visitors were two goals ahead by half-time thanks to Ellis’ first goal of the day and Vincent’s effort just before the midway point of the half.

Ellis doubled his tally to take his side out of sight five minutes after the restart, and that was enough to send them intothetopsixoftheNorthern League Division One table.

Joint-manager Gary Pearson is not paying too much attention to the league table though, and insists his players will not show any complacencyastheylooktocarryontheir good form.

He told The Echo: “It’s nice to see we are where we are but it’s still a little bit false at the moment.

“We are in a position where wedeservetobe, butifwewant to stay in there the confidence ismassiveandwehavecompetitionforplaces, sotherewon’t be any complacency shown.”

Elsewhere in Division One, an Elliott Beddow hat-trick inspired Thornaby to a 6-2 home win against Penrith and sent his side top of the table.

Zak Atkinson and Declan Bissett scored to help Whickham come from behind to claim a 2-1 win at Bishop Auckland, and first-half goals from Dean Briggs and Ryan McGorrigan gave Ashington a 2-1 home victory against Northallerton Town.
