STORY:

Sunderland band Frankie & The Heartstrings have paid tribute to Dave Harper following his death. They did so after revealing that the drummer had passed away in hospital on Wednesday, August 25.

Claire Wallace Anderson: Sad news. R.I.P Dave...thoughts are with Ruth and his family.

Dominique Laws: Knowing that people like Dave were in the world, even more so my city, was a relief and comfort! Speaking out against casual bigotry is the first defence against allowing the rot of hate to set in. Rest in power and peace Dave.

Angela Young: Heartbroken for his family, this is so sad.

Sam Henry: Sad news...I had the pleasure of meeting Dave a few years ago at a wedding...Such a lovely guy. Sending loving thoughts to his family and friends...tragic news for one so young.

Leeann Clarkson: What a loss he will be to our city. Dave was the voice of reason on the comment section of the Echo. An all round good guy. Tragic.

Melissa Olivia Cameron: I had the pleasure of meeting and treating Dave this week whilst he was in hospital, such a polite and friendly man. Devastated. Rest in Peace.

Sarah Robson: Dave was an absolute legend, I’m heartbroken to hear this news. In fact I’m sitting in a cafe sobbing in to my cuppa thoughts are with his wife, son, family and friends. Sunderland has lost a good one x

Tragic. Topper guy was Dave, gave so much to Sunderland xx. Love to his family and friends.
