In-form Sunderland West End go looking for a fifth consecutive win when they travel to newly-promoted Blyth Town on Saturday.

Keith Graydon and Steven Stewart’s side extended their best run of form since the club joined the Northern League with a 4-2 home win against Boldon CA on Wednesday night.

That took West End into the top four of the Division Two table, and another win this weekend could see them break into the promotion places for the first time this season. Confidence is understandably high ahead of the trip to Northumberland, and joint-manager Graydon revealed his squad are enjoying life at the moment.

He told the Echo: “The lads have been fantastic and the first-half against Boldon was the best we’ve played this season.

“The only criticism is that we need to take more chances - but we are still scoring goals so we can’t really complain.

“Blyth have been in the league before, it’s a tough place to go and play, and I would probably be happy with a point.

“But we want a win, the lads are all buzzing, the WhatsApp group is all about kicking on and looking for more wins. That’s what we are going looking for this weekend.”

Graydon confirmed James Armstrong remains unavailable with an injury but otherwise he has full squad to

choose from.

The Division Two weekend gets under way tonight when leaders Billingham Synthonia entertain Redcar Town. Elsewhere on Saturday, Easington Colliery are without injured duo Jack Pounder and Simon Todd for their home game against Willington.

Injuries have ruled Sam Attewell and Frankie Hucks out of Boldon CA’s game at

Brandon United, and Jarrow will take a late check on the fitness of striker Channon North ahead of their trip to Bedlington Terriers.

Adam Ward will miss Birtley Town’s home meeting with

Carlisle City as he serves a suspension, and new signing Konner Lamb could start for Ryton & Crawcrook Albion as they visit Washington.

John Jury will be in the Tow Law Town squad for their game at Newcastle University after joining the club from Newton Aycliffe, and Durham City face a tough test if they are to claim a first league win of the season as they host inform Heaton Stannington.
