Meaningful bouquets for bloomin’ best friendships
Sending flowers as a token of appreciation, a thank you or simply as a kind gesture is always a lovely surprise for the recipient.
In light of recent National Best Friends’ Day, experts in the floral field have released their top tips when picking flowers for your best friend.
There are numerous ways to celebrate friendship with flowers. Several flowers even represent friendship, including yellow roses, alstroemeria, pink tulips and sweet pea.
Another idea is to match a bouquet to your pal’s horoscope, as each zodiac sign also has a compatible flower.
Daffodils are the perfect pairing for an Aries. This flower blooms early and symbolises new beginnings, great for Aries as first sign of the zodiac. Daffodils also symbolise faithfulness as they bloom year after year.
Lilies are a great match for the sensual nature of a Taurus as they symbolise devotion and fertility.
Lavender makes sense for Geminis as its relaxing qualities balance out their busy social and energetic traits.
Cancers make for loyal friends, so a longer-lasting flower that requires more care such as a white orchid is ideal.
Sunflowers are one of the best floral gifts for a Leo. Not only are they in the peak of their season during this zodiac month they are also bold, confident and demand attention just as Leos do.
When looking for a flower to compliment a Virgo, go for a white rose. This flower mirrors their reliable nature, while appealing to their understated side.
Tulips are the flower for any Libra. They reflect Libra’s peacemaking qualities and appeal to their indecisive nature.
A dark red rose is a perfect match for a Scorpio, to match their passion and appeal to their mysterious side.
Look no further than a Carnation to appeal to a Sagittarius. This common wedding flower calls to their romantic side while channelling their strength.
Pansies are a match for your Capricorn bestie. This
tenacious flower reflects the hardworking and persistent nature of Capricorns.
Aquarius is assertive and free-spirited so is perfectly complemented by Iris. This spring flower represents hope.
Finally, Hydrangeas symbolize emotion and understanding, so are wonderful for a Pisces, as those born under this sign are considered the most compassionate of the zodiac.
The intricate petals will appeal to their creative side!
Another simple way to please a pal is to opt for their favourite colour in flowers.
Pick bouquets from a range of neutrals, pastels or brights.
If your friend prefers green shades why not choose a potted flower such as a peace lily which will provide greenery all year round?
Or match a bouquet to their interior style. If they
prefer understated and monochrome decor a white bouquet could be perfect, or for those with a love for vintage furniture, a more exotic arrangement may be preferable.
If you have a crafty friend, why not buy a bouquet that could be turned into a flower wreath or buy individual stems for a fun flower arranging activity?
Vicky Wilson, in-house florist at Interflora said: “Buying flowers for a friend is one of the simplest ways to show you appreciate them.
“Any bouquet will put a smile on their face, but thinking of ways to personalise a bouquet beyond a card is a great way to show you care.
“Take time to consider how their personality may be suited to a particular style or colour and include flowers with symbolic meaning for extra thoughtfulness.”
