Ryhope CW stand firm against Bishops and claim worthy point

Ryhope CW battled to a draw at Bishop Auckland to move back into the top seven of the Northern League Division One table.

An early penalty from James Ellis put Ryhope ahead - but they had to settle for a point thanks to Lewis Murphy equaliser and they now head into Tuesday’ s home game with Consett looking for a first win in three games.

The Steelmen will arrive at the Recreation Ground sat on top of the table after Dale Pearson, James Metcalfe and Luke Carr all net ted in their 3-0 home win against Whitley Bay.

Crook Town moved into third as Joe Smith got the only goal of their win against North all er ton Town and they lie just a point behind Thornaby after two goals from Corey Nicholson and one each from Gary Brown, E van H or wood andcondemn­ed them to a 5-0 home defeat against West Auckland Town.

Max Cowburn grabbed a brace in Ashington’s 4-0 home win against his former club W hi ck ham and veteran striker Paul Brayson also scored twice as Newcastle Benfield secured a 3-1 win over Penrith.

Billingham Town put a slight halt on their poor run of form with a goal less homed raw against Guisboroug­h Town.

Sunderland West End’s impressive run came to an end as an Evan Howard brace and a Jak Ditchburn goal helped BlythTown to a 3-0 win against Keith Graydon and Steven Stewart’s men.

Heaton Stanningto­n top the table as they romped to a 4-1 win at beleaguere­d Durham City thanks to goals from Liam McBryde, Leight on Proctor and Con nor Campbell.

Ryton and Crawcrook Albionlie in third after they put ten man Washington to the sword with a 7-0 win at Ford Hub.

Dillon Clark was dismissed midway through the first-half as the Mechanics were punished as braces from Callum Turnbull and Konner Lamb put the visitors on their way to a big win.

Liam Adamson and Jack Devlin netted to help Easington Colliery to a 2-0 home win against Willington and Blake Wood got the only goal of Newcastle University’s win over Tow Law Town.

A brace from Jason Blackburn helped Jarrow secure a 3-0 win at Bedlington Terriers and Jonathan Hall got the decisive goal inBol don CA’s 4-3 win at Brandon United.

All of the goals came in the first-half at Birtley Town as the Hoops fell to a 5-2 defeat against Carlisle City.
