Pete departs Durham City after second 10-0 defeat
Ebac Northern League Division Two strugglers Durham City have confirmed manager Peter Mulcaster has left the club “with immediate effect”.
The Citizens are sat at the bottom of the Division Two table after they fell to a 10-0 defeatatSunderlandWestEndon Wednesday night.
That was the second time theyhaveconcededdoublefiguresthisseasonaftercrashing to a defeat by the same scoreline at Boldon CA earlier in the campaign.
The veteran manager has been a well-known figure around the North East nonleague scene over the last 35 years, after taking charge of thelikesofCrookTown,Bishop Auckland and Darlington RA.
He took over at the Citizens in the aftermath of Didier Agathe’s departure from the club last October and has overseen a major recruitment drive as they looked to move on from another season of struggle.
However, results have failed to improve throughout the opening six weeks of the new season and they have collected just one point from their opening eight games of the campaign.
A statement released on Thursday lunchtime confirmed Mulcaster’s departure as the club thanked him for his efforts during his time in charge.
It read: “Durham City AFC can announced that manager Peter Mulcaster has left the club with immediate effect.
“The club would like to thank Peter for his efforts over the last year in what had been achallengingtimefortheclub, andwishhimallthebestforthe future.”
The Citizens take a break from Northern League action thisweekendastheyvisitConsett in the Durham Challenge Cup.
