Easington Welfare Park keep up title challenge with 9-2 victory

Easington Welfare Park, formerly known as Easington CIU, have made a great start in their quest for the SSK Recruitmen­t Peterlee and District Sunday League Premier Division title.

Patton and midfield player Niall Crosby were sent off, they were second best all along against an Easington side who meant business from the outset.

Liam Adamson hit home four goals, Dennis Tapping got a brace and Jack McAndrew, James Watson and Jay Harwood were all on the scoresheet too, with a Robbie Bird double being the reply for the Dawdon outfit.

Champions Peterlee Catholic Club made it three wins from three when they totally outplayed Seaham Marlboroug­h and came away with a 9-0 win, with Craig Foster and Oliver Hotchkiss both netting hat-tricks, Gary Shaw scoring a brace and Oliver James completing the rout.

Horden JD’s Bar are findingitt­oughinthet­opflightan­d their second defeat was by 5-0 to Shotton Comrades, whose goals came from Luke Pearn twice, Jamie Bennett, Lewis RobsonandN­athanGrain­ger.

In the First Division, a seven-goal thriller saw Wingate Howden coming out on top against Seaham Oddfellows Arms thanks to a brace from Ellis Dunn plus efforts from DanBedding­andDanHeal­er.

Roseberry Park were far toostrongf­orPeterlee­Helford United, winning 7-3.

Scott Henderson was the hero for Eppleton when he hit four of his side’s goals in an 8-1 win against Easington Southside.

In the other match played in the division, a brace from substitute Thomas Bott plus a strike from Ryan Douglas paved the way for Easington Mechanics to defeat Easington Victory 3-2.

In the Second Division, twogoalsfr­omAnthonyT­hirkell and efforts from Scott Baker, Peter Thompson, Jack Rutherford and sub Thomas Alderson paved the way for Seaham Park to prevail 6-0 over Horden Labour Club.

Haswell Oddfellows won a five-goal encounter 3-2 against Peterlee Inclusion, thanks to goals from John Dunn, Alan Jnes and Ken Stevenson, with Martin Basley and Tony Rudd replying.
