YOU CAN HELP THE PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN

-

At the time of writing, UNHCR staff are continuing to work on the ground across Afghanistan, and currently have access to all 34 provinces. They will stay for as long as the security situation allows it, to protect and assist the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve been forced to flee within the country and made

vulnerable by the conflict. The humanitarian needs are growing fast for the increased number of people displaced and time is running short. UNHCR’s team in

Afghanistan urgently need your support.

People’s most immediate needs are safety and protection, shelter, food, sanitation and drinking water.

Please will you give £82 to help UNHCR teams provide lifesaving humanitarian support to the people

of Afghanistan?

The situation is complex and dynamic, and the next few weeks could see a further increase in humanitarian needs. We are concerned about the risk of serious human rights abuses and violations in the communities most affected by the fighting. Our teams are particularly concerned about the impact of the violence on women and children.

António Guterres, the UN Secretary General, said in a statement:

“I want to express my grave concern at the deepening humanitarian and economic crisis in the country and the

threat of basic services collapsing completely.”

“Today, almost half of the population of Afghanistan – 18 million people – need humanitarian assistance to survive. One in three Afghans do not know where their next meal will come from. More than half of all children under-five are expected to become acutely malnourished in the next year. People are losing access to basic goods and services every day. A humanitarian catastrophe looms.” The situation is deeply alarming, but there is something

you can do to help.

With a gift of £82 today, or whatever you can afford, you could help UNHCR get lifesaving supplies through to the people who most need them.

Your support can help save lives.
