Sunderland tower blocks now gas free, Gentoo confirms.

Jayde Scott: Tell the supplier that so they can stop sending threatening letters to the old people that live in them.

Craig McCombie: Gas is being phased out nationally anyway, but there are very good reasons not to have it in high rise blocks, as demonstrated. For once Gentoo are doing something positive.

Benjamin Taylor: Crazy, right?! Ronin Point was 1968, and we still have high rises with gas more than 50 years later.

Corrine Ward: My dad was paying a DD for the gas and electric for years and never had a problem with the amount he was paying until they changed to all electric, he then got a bill for 5000! We called them and they dropped it to 1500, he in a 1 bedroom flat by himself!!!

Kathleen Taylor: Shame they wont take the storage heaters out of Solar House, people cant afford to put heating on and how on earth are they supposed to know what tomorrows weather is going to be?

Alan Pearson: Would just like to say core heating absolute rubbish, never known any system where you have to put heating on for two hours before you get hot water.

Katie Wilson: I haven’t had a gas meter ever since I moved into my Gentoo flat.

Paul Miller: Bad news in a power cut how will people stay warm.

Darren Shovlin: Just need to keep the electric heating working now because there’s been problems ever since they changed over.

Sheila Thompson: And it’s left us all freezing in winter.

Baz Winter: These ain’t had gas in for years if am correct they were capped off a long time ago same as the 3 L’s down the east end. Only the four towers at Dame Dorothy had a gas supply connected.

Stephen Dixon: Some properties in the blocks were still on supply, usually privately owned flats. There were a few in the block I live in.
